REALLY NEW YORK, I DO LOOOOOOOOVE YOU!!!

this film, hands down, has the best assemble of elite actors i have ever seen. like Paris Je T'aime (2006), these are vignettes of the people living in the love fused air of the big apple. but unlike, je t'aime, the stories integrate and intertwine with each other like the lives of the busy city.

Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding, The Namesake, and Amelia), Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, X-Men), Natalie Portman, and much much more directs this hugely talented cast including natalie portman, anton yelchin, julie christie, olivia thirlby, shia labeouf, bradley cooper, rachel bilson, and much much more. i honestly was gasping every five minutes from the range of actors that accumulated together to make this beautiful portrait of classic new york.

it was wonderful and very different from that of Paris Je T'aime considering the huge culture difference from both places that is essentially a blueprint for the film. and if i had to choose if i liked paris je t'aime or new york, i love you, i would have to say paris je'taime.eekk! but seriously. i should not even compare because they are completely two different work from completely different people from all over the globe.

and unlike paris, new york is a melting pot of all cultures. and thats what makes new york so much more special than any other place on this glorious and mysterious earth. and in a city that doesnt sleep (maybe vegas too?) the little incidents and moments that people share bring the inner love and makes new york the place to be for love. i love new york and plan to live there someday and possibly, i too will find love. Where the wild things are (2009) lived up to its hype! no joke, spike jonze has surpassed his own reputation and can easily be compared to the epicness that is michael gondry. everything in this film was so surreal and beautiful that you honestly couldnt imagine a more heavenly utopia. max records who plays max, is really a rambunctious spirit who like every kid just wants to be uninhibited. after acting out in front of his mom's (catherine keener) new boyfriend (mark buffalo), he runs away from home to the place of the wild things.

i dont want to spoil anything but just seeing the "creatures" for the first time, it was very surreal experience. this is what every film should be like! not only is it a good escapist film but it entails a deep story about the human condition, no wonder kids didnt understand it at first. with its shakycam, the audience is in for a loopy and mind-blowing visual spectacular!

spike jonze can do no wrong. after directing being john malkovich (1999) and adaptation (2002), he had me. he creates another exclusive world that only you and him can enter and makes it so you never want to leave!

i cannot express enough how much this film means to me personally and professionally. as an aspiring filmmaker, jonze has been one of my many inspirations from day one. his visionary and universal subject injects the audience with an adrenaline that only drugs can provide. and while some may be high during the two hours of this spectacle, it is no wonder why that spike jonze has been one of the the most avant-garde and ground-breaking director of our generation. ooooh yes. the coen bros are back after winning four freaking oscars in 2007 for no country for old men. and i guess its easy to say that after you win an oscar, you basically have the freedom to do anything they please! so here comes a new coen classic that is a more personal and mature work that has never been seen from them.

and at first, i didnt really like it. and usually, the things i dont like at first, i end up loving. like park chan-wook's thirst. i think its this preconceived notion i have of a certain director that i expect the same kind of style from them every time. but how would they advance if they keep doing that? they dont. and where do you go after perfecting a film and winning an oscar? ha, i guess in the coen bros' case, the only answer is up.

larry gobnik's life is spiraling out of control and slooooowly unraveling itself for the worst. after numerous incidents that will kill any normal person, gobnik seems to be holding himself with god knows what. the setting is in the mid-west where the coen bros grew up. and they paint a portrait of their jewish background in this 1967's remote town.

i dont know what to say except i havent seen a more jewish film in my life. the set design and costumes were magnificent. cinematography was exceptional. the actors were more than appropriately picked for their role. i cant imagine anyone playing gobnik's pathetic character besides michael stuhlbarg.

the coen bros let me down a little bit only because of my preconceived notions. but all in all, it was a hilarious and beautifully photographed picture. B

joesph gordon-levitt is starring in yet another indieish film with lynn collins and olivia thirlby ( indie film goddess!) in the upcoming thriller uncertainty. i dont know what to presume from the trailer but im sure i will understand it fully when i see it. mmm... maybe they edited the trailer like that intentionally. i mean the film IS titled uncertainty... hehe

i loved levitt since third rock from the sun and his choices of films have been improving as the years go by. his selection of roles to play never ceases to amuse and impress me. if you havent seen a film of him, check out manic, brick, or this summer's indie hit, 500 days of summer! i guess you can say he at me at hello... :)

it comes out nov. 13!

i rather not put up a poster of the film because im honestly scared to death just looking at it!! i just watched a pre-screening at my school and all i can say is wow. i came home to research the film (like i always do) and found some creepy things on the internet. and considering that its the internet, not everything should be credible but it does make me wonder, who IS abigail tyler?

i almost glad that they showed almost all of the good footage already in the preview because it really does force people to reconsider the notion of aliens, no matter what belief system you have. who knows how well it will do in theaters seeing how liberal the contents are. and let me tell you, when milla jovovich came out in the trailer announcing that some things are very disturbing, she was not lying! ive watched unfathomably grotesque things in my day, but a live footage wrapped itself around my neck and choked me more than i expected.

and honestly i dont know what to believe! for those who refuse to believe in the film, i would probably ignorant denounce them as close minded! but watching this film, does make one think so critically if we're really alone. the film is not a masterpiece and looks more like the set of twilight with every progressing scene, but that should not hinder you from at least sneaking in to the theaters or bootlegging it online (but PREFERABLY, go to the theaters!!) just watch it and hopefully something will stir inside of you, something you've never felt in your life before: TRUE FEAR. rated: C. it comes out nov. 6.
