ok, im not a "twilighter" but the twilight: new moon soundtrack is quite amazing. i dont know how alexandra patsavas, the music supervisor managed to get death cab for cutie, thom york!, lykke li, bon iver, and grizzly bear all in one soundtrack but its glorious!!! and despite that the soundtrack is related to twilight, be assured that it is nothing less than perfection. ok fine, im exaggerating a little but its good. im sure all the twilighters are going crazy but im sincerely just trying to say that the soundtrack propelled the film from being another teenybopper film to a time capsule of our modern day generation. there is one song is particular that makes me fall in love again and again with the soundtrack. aaaaand, it is lykke li's possibility.

the coffee night girls and i saw quentin tarantino in westwood, ca on thursday! at first i dont think it registered in anyones head that it was actually him and that it was actually happening! for me, i was like " that guy looks soo much like tarantino but just chunkier...waayy chunkier" and oh my god, its him! and i was in such shock that for the first time in my life, i didnt know what to say. all that came out of me was "HOOOWS IT GOING?" hahah i think he replied, "hey girls, its goood." and walked off.

by the time we absorbed everything that happened, he was already gone. i wonder where he was going? the thought of following him entered our minds but it was too late. we can only speculate that he went to go see the coen bros' a serious man at the regent.

so there you have it! i saw spike jonze and quentin tarantino all in one week! i honestly cant believe it. my life is glourious!!! muwhahaha now, my next target: BRAD PITT.

ladies and gentlemen, on november 15 of 2009, i met spike jonze. and then EVVVERRRYTHING CHANGED. haha jk.

but yes, this past weekend at los angeles' family bookstore, spike jonze came down for the launch of his book, heads on and we shoot: the making of where the wild things are. aaaaaahhhhhmazing!

taking the words right off the family bookstore's blog,

HEADS ON AND WE SHOOT unveils the unique collaboration behind Where the Wild Things Are -the combined work of Maurice Sendak, Spike Jonze, Dave Eggers, and all the cast and crew. The book design is heavily image-based, a mix of early sketches, storyboards, character designs, and extensive behind-the-scenes photographs that show both incredible live-action puppetry and computer animation. The text includes forewords by Jonze and Eggers, interviews with the cast and crew, stories from on and off the set, and early drafts of the screenplay. The resulting book will be simultaneously a beautiful object for collectors, an insider′s guide for devotees, and an intimate window into the creative process.

this is how our conversation went:

me: 2 questions. one is, what advice can you give for a fellow filmmaker?

spike jonze: wear comfortable shoes.

me: haha, always got my boots on!

family worker: oh come on, nothing like how to get into the biz?

sj: well for you as an artist, what would you recommend?

fw: i dont know, just do and make stuff

sj: (turns to me) yeah just do and make stuff

me: ok, now who is your favorite director?

sj: aww man, i dont know

me: come on make me proud!

sj: (eyes sparkle) YOU.

my favorite director is So.

me: (inside) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! omgomgomgomgogmogmgomgomogmg. kill me, i have died and gone to cinephilia heaven!!

(outside) alright! i thought you would say like i dont know stanley kubrick or something.

soo numb. i honestly walked out feeling like i just effing diiiiied!

i have really bad scanning skills. but there it is! and sooooo.... here are a few of my favorite spike jonze piiictures.

how epic is that picture with spike and brad? i repeat, not photoshopped. apparently, jonze directed a japanese commercial with brad in it.

i remember saying long time ago, "one day, i want to meet spike jonze." hahaa check! ahhh. i feel as if my life is a bit more complete now. spike actually made a bet with my friend michelle saying she wasnt in the picture she took with him. and he lost and as a prize, she got his pen. wooohoo!! all in all, it was a very successful night!

now, my next goal is just to meet daniel day-lewis or brad pitt. even breathing in the same air as both of them will suffice for a lifetime!

i dont think anyone has a clue about the passion and attachment i have to daniel day-lewis. i DO NOT care if he is 50 years old or what not. i can honestly say that he is one of the most phenomenal and mesmerizing actors i have ever laid my eyes on. daniel day-lewis and this film is my twilight fix. edward to millions of screaming tweens is daniel day-lewis to me. yes, i am the millions of screaming tweens in one body. imagine that.

and here comes a film based on my favorite italian director, federico fellini's 8 1/2. kill me. this is way too much. im probably gonna do a whole post on just the history of day-lewis' career before the film comes out. and i know i already posted this trailer before. but i think you deserve and owe it to yourself to watch it over and over and over again!!! wheew, i think im going to pass out....

AHHHHHHHHH!!! adgkjhsdkjgfjdjgsdg. how epic was that?! and yes, i think im more excited about this than toy story 3-D. there i said it! this comes out dec 18!!!

now the real question is....CAN DANIEL DAY-LEWIS SING? haha

the virgin suicides? nonono, you heard me right the first time, the bunny suicides. andy riley is the genius behind the bunny suicides. and lately, ive become obsessed with them. riley wrote the book of bunny suicides: little fluffy rabbits who just dont want to live any more back in 2003. and it created a sensation and became the bestselling collection of one image black comedy cartoons EVER!!! haha. and so by popular demand came the return of the bunny suicides in 2004.

i came across this epic creation recently when i went to barnes and was immediately attracted to the morbidly humorous 2010 planner that was the bunny suicides. after that, i was hooked. i went online and found the most entertaining and cute ones i could get my hands on. and amazingly, they have many references to iconic films of the past.

kurt vonnegut has to be one of my all time fav writer and ive read most of his stories but this one. 2081 is based on his short story, harrison bergeron, which is in his book--welcome to the monkey house. i came across this trailer through multiple youtube links and it looks interesting enough. i know people may be sick of these dystopia films but as long as the picture and story is well told, i dont see a problem. apparently the film blog, filmonic is comparing the film to children of men. and let me tell you, children of men was both inspiring and heart-breaking. check it out.

p.s. i found out that 2081 is a short film that premiered at the seattle international film festival. i dont know where and how it could be seen but i just finished reading kurt vonnegut's short story, harrison bergeron and let me say that it is just simply beautiful.

ive been watching a lot of films with strong/different women characters lately. and thats what we are missing the most these days, esp in the oscar race. i heard that this year, the candidates for best actress is lacking, which is horrible. that is why, im trying to encourage and create more strong female roles in my life and in my films. thats the last thing we need, more men! ha! hehe. jk, im just busting your balls. but needless to say, we should continue making a difference in today's society as strong willing women who can be just as successful as men or even greater. god, i sound like such a feminist but its true! lets make it happen ladies...
