Despite living in Los Angeles my whole life, I've never been to Quentin Tarantino's New Beverly Cinema till now. And what a great way to kick it off but with a screening of Okja with a Q&A with Tarantino himself and Bong Joon-ho! I had such a grand time finally attending the theatre and watching the film. I also did a mini review of the film at the end of the video and least to say, I enjoyed the film! Especially Jake Gyllenhaal's wacky character! I'm so excited to attend more screenings at the New Bev and I hope to see you all there!

I adore everything Bong Joon-ho has done since Barking Dogs Never Bite and I didn't expect anything less in his latest film, Okja! I knew it would most likely have a political message, young female lead, and possibly a large creature in the film but never in my wildest dreams did I expect something like this. Maybe because Bong's films are usually grim compared to the dream-like and effervescent-ness of Okja but it looks refreshing and I'm excited. Netflix will drop the film June 28th but hopefully we can catch it on the big screen as well because by the looks of it, it's going to be downright beautiful.
Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer is finally here! After premiering at last year's Cannes festival, this U.S. debut film from the South Korean filmmaker (The Host, Mother) got acquired by the Weinstein Company and still, it took so long for it to make it in theaters. At last we get to see the first trailer of Snowpiercer, an adaptation of a French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob about a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off all life on the planet except a lucky few who boards on the Snowpiercer, a train that travels across the globe which is separated by class systems. It looks utterly suspenseful, emotionally-charged, and visually grim. There is such a huge roster of exceptionally talented and underrated actors who are in this like Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song, Ed Harris and etc, etc. It's all going to be so great! Can't wait to see it at the opening night of the Los Angeles Film Festival! Snowpiercer comes out June 27!
When is Snowpiercer coming out already?! I have been asking myself this question since I first heard about the film late last year and have been patiently waiting. But I'm not so sure how much I want to watch it anymore considering The Weinstein Company who acquired the film for U.S. distribution chopped 20 minutes off of the film which even made Chris Evans, one of the actors of the Snowpiercer exclaim that he wasn't pleased with the decision and that it's just one of those situations that's "tricky." There's nothing tricky about it! Weinstein doesn't think the American audience is capable of understanding the film in its original form. Regardless, check out this making of Snowpiercer that will not only amp up your anticipation for the film but will truly show the wholly creative control from every department of the film that'll only make you love the film even more.
OH SHIT, YALL! It's here!! The first trailer to Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho's anticipated American debut film, Snowpiercer has finally arrived! With Tilda Swinton in her animated gear, it almost makes it feel like it has a Hungry Games vibe. I am so excited to see to see the full package of the film cause this little glimpse just shows a generic storyline of a man vs. man kind of story! And I definitely know Bong Joon-ho can tell a more thorough story than that! Snowpiercer will be released in the summer of 2013!!
Snowpiercer will be Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho's U.S. debut adapted from the French graphic novel of the same name. The post-apocalyptic story follows the last survivors on Earth during an Ice Age, travelling on a massive train that is divided by economic classes. The film might premiere at Cannes 2013 and The Weinstein Company is planning on full theater release in the summer although no date has been set. Regardless, I'm super excited to see this VERY DIVERSE assemble interact in this post-apocalyptic world.
