It's HERE! It's finally HERE! After countless months of updating every nook and cranny of this film from teasers to still to trailers, and posters (see all here) I am so ecstatic to announce that I have seen the greatness that is Jim Jarmusch's long awaited film, Only Lovers Left Alive. Only Lovers Left Alive is seriously one of the most romantic films I have ever seen. Jim Jarmusch is one of the very few filmmakers that know how to make my heart swoon with his endless night roaming, nostalgia for the past, and the presentation of the eternal love between two people. I absolutely adored every aspect of this film especially it's soft yet dark cinematography, the passionate love between Adam and Eve, and simply their rants about the lost world. Only Lovers Left Alive comes out April 11. Wait for it!
Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive trailer is finally out! After posting numerous clips and stills from the film, the trailer gives us a glimpse at Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston as century old vampires who are in love. Even with a plethora of Vampire films that have come out in the past years, the overdone theme seems to have a fresh and interesting look when spun in the hands of Jarmusch and his stellar cast also including Mia Wasikowska, Anton Yelchin, and John Hurt. There's a dark yet romanticism that dispels from the vivid images of the dark world they are engrossed in. The film premiere at New York Film Festival in October but there has not been a released date announced yet! I desperately want to see this film and just the closing image of Swinton and Hiddleston passionately lying naked together is enough to sell me on this film!
I've been meaning to see more of Jim Jarmusch's films considering the only one I've seen was The Limits of Control (2009) and seeing that Only Lovers Left Alive is coming out soon, I need to catch up on his filmography. Here are two clips from OLLA and it is already apparent that he is approaching this film with his usual beautifully drawn out and stillness filmic style that he has been exercising to almost an extreme in The Limits of Control and Broken Flowers. Regardless of how he likes to test our patience, he can always execute to tell thoughtful stories that are so beyond our years. Can't wait! Only Lovers Left Alive comes out Oct 10!
