after watching kick-ass for the second time (and probably not the last) and falling in love with hit girl even deeper, i realized how many kick-ass females in film history had short hair.

not to mention that chloe grace moretz, the girl who plays hit girl will play eli from let the right one in. ( pictured above) i cant believe theyre making a remake because the swedish version was so beautiful but hopefully they dont completely ruin it. the american version is called let me in. if you havent watched the swedish version, i ssseeriously recommend you to!

we did it! we finished shooting my first film on super 16mm yesterday. its called the audition and its gonna look amazing. ahaha im not hyping this up just because its mind but because i truly believe its going to be great. plus, with the kodak: vision 3. 500t film that we picked out, the image is going to look that much more vivid and visceral. check out some of the production photos. theyre siiiiiick! *photos were all shot by marcy silver.

how else can you really describe this matthew vaughn film without saying it was fucking KICK. ASS. im not going to sugar coat it, vaughn really havent been making the best movies (mediocre: layer cake, stardust) until NOW.

Kick-Ass is a 2010 superhero film based on the marvel brandished comic of the same name by mark millar and john romita, jr. brad pitt's production company, plan b helped co-produce it and was co-written by jane goldman.

The film tells the story of an ordinary teenager, Dave Lizewski, who sets out to become a real-life superhero only to get caught up in a bigger fight. He meets Big Daddy, a former cop who, in his quest to bring down the evil drug lord Frank D'Amico, has trained his eleven-year-old daughter to be the ruthless vigilante Hit-Girl.

ok. most people went in with the intention that they were just going to witness another humorous comic-adapted-into-film kind of movie. but what they got was much much more. we were not only surprised by the uncensored presentation of blood and violence but even the profanities were shocking (gasp!!). esp, if its coming out of a 11 year old girl's mouth. chloe grace moretz (hit girl) not only made the movie good but she has marked her ground as one of the most memorable action heroes out there right now. she is everything ive ever wanted to be since before, now, and forever. (foreshadow of a possible halloween costume)

i havent read the comic yet but it is clear that vaughn made absolutely no compromises to adapting the comic true to its core. judging by the cover of the comic, it wouldve been hard to stay true without the presence of a plethora of bloodbaths (very reminiscent of kill bill), knives diggin into peoples skulls, and some real ass kicking!! even nicolas cage as hit girl's idiosyncratic father played big daddy with plausibility. the stories dug in deep of the people who usually stands by while crimes are being committed. and how those people built up the courage to stand tall and do something about it. un chien andalou is salvador dali and luis bunuel's masterpiece. it presents everything surrealism stands for. even through its simple and incoherent mash-up of shots, there is a constructed form behind it which makes the film so brilliant. this is such a incoherent structure that can only be mastered by the one and only, bunuel. chhhecck it. (if you have a chance, check out his other films: the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie, belle de jour)

its been a very busy month for film students. ive been working on a couple of sets whether it is as a camera assistant, script sup, set photographer, or just a pa. nonetheless, im glad im at least working on a few sets. and even with the amount of school work and work that is encompassing my social life, i have an urge to start new projects of my own (and actually finish them.) my cinematography class is letting us actually shoot with film and so, i quickly conquered up a radical yet trivial story about god knows what ( i wont reveal it until after production.) and i just finished my first assignment which i will probably post up soon.

but i really want to start making art videos. possibly experiment with montage and other film theories. and just make random videos that mean absolutely nothing. hahah basically.

there are many updates yet to come. im going to update my website and hopefully update this blog and the other one more consistently. and basically start doing more shit!!! aiight im out!
